New site for central PA restaurant reviews and info
I just stumbled onto a site that lists some restaurants close to Harrisburg:
http://www.dineoutharrisburg.com
Unfortunately, they also don’t list casual places like Neato Burrito, one of my favs. Here is the snippet from their website FAQ:
Why is “X” restaurant not listed?
At DineOutHarrisburg we believe in listing restaurants on several criteria. 1) The restaurant has table service (waiters and waitresses) and not just a casual lunch ordering area. 2) The restaurant is within a 15 mile radius of Harrisburg. We believe the combination of food and service is what makes a successful restaurant.

I think it would be nice if they would loosen the restriction and include casual places, I’d more inclined to use their site.

Wow. My favorite pizza, burrito, cheesesteak, and hamburger places will all fail to make their listing. I’m curious what they think will make their site stand out against the likes of harrisburg.citysearch.com? The limited coverage? The smaller number of reviews? The less-than-stellar search capabilities? I don’t get it.

I have basically lived using http://yelp.com since moving out to San Francisco and it is amazing. I know harrisburg has a bit less of an active internet population willing to provide reviews but there is never any shortage here. I haven’t used citysearch but that is another popular one out here. You should check it out if you haven’t used it yet. Again there will always be crazy people giving bad reviews but I’ve noticed if there is enough then the ratings will even out.

Thanks Ryan, yelp.com looks great (and they have Neato Burrito and other places Mark was looking for).
